Visit Nepal 2020 is the third attempt for tourism promotion by Nepal government after the two successive programs as visit Nepal 1999 and Nepal tourism year 2011. According to national newspaper Republica Dainik “The government is inaugurating the Visit Year program with the goal of attracting 2 million tourists in the country during the Visit Year 2020. Visit Nepal Year-2020 is going to be formally inaugurated amidst a special program at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on January 1, 2020. Likewise, the government has invited tourism ministers and senior delegates of 31 countries on the inaugural ceremony of the Visit Nepal year 2020.”
In Visit Nepal 2020 year travelers will have an opportunity to directly land in the new international airports as Lumbini and phokhara. The ministry has initiated the process to bring a strategic partner for Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). It also plans on introducing new narrow body air crafts to provide airline services to numerous tourists. And to make sure to the comfortless of each and every tourist, the government has also plans on running Tribhuvan International Airport for additional 3 hours from regular 18 hours to assure the availability of airport services to incoming and departing tourists.
